New village church

Daniel and I (Paul) had the privilege of helping build the new Renewal Lutheran Church building. It is about a 45 minute walk from where we live. There is no way to drive there and we had to carry all of our supplies thru a river. The concrete pad was poured in 2005 and the lumber cut using a portable saw mill but they ran out of money for nails, steel roofing panel and other supplies.

Now they have started construction and a group of guys from Ukarumpa have been going to help each Saturday.

You can see the old church building and how much bigger the new one is going to be. That is a good problem that they have outgrown their old building.

It was a great experience working beside Pastor Ham and the other men from the village. Daniel was a big help and hammered many nails.
