Can you spot the dokken kids in this picture?

We were thankful that it didn't rain during the outdoor game time

2 ladies that helped in Paul's class

Last week hundreds of Papua New Guinean children came here to the mission center for Vacation Bible School.  Paul, Daniel and I were helpers.  The children enjoyed puppets, skits, singing, games and great teaching.  The theme was the 10 Commandments and as the children learned God’s laws  they could recognize that we are all sinful and in need of a Savior.  They were taught that it’s only through Jesus that we can be saved from our sin and a number of  children prayed to give their lives to Jesus!

Each day they were given a paper with pictures and script related to the lesson and had a chance to color.  When it was time to move on to the next activity we would have a hard time coaxing the kids away.  The majority of these kids are not in school and many had probably never had a chance to color before!

Kids here give a little lift of their eyebrows to say yes.  Paul had about 20 kids around him, calling out each name to get the right paper to the right child.  He called out one boys’ name but didn’t see anyone raising their hand. Finally, he looked down and saw the boy in front of him giving his eyebrows a little lift to say “here I am!”  :  )

Over 500 children heard the gospel this week and we pray that the Good News will spread through this valley into every village and every home.

Motorcycle ride

Christmas eve day my brother David and I borrowed 2 motorcycles and went for
a long ride. It was a lot of fun and we got to see a lot of the surrounding
area. The buildings in the picture are a brand new primary school.

Mumu with Kasona

Our friend Kasona who lives in a nearby village heard that my brother David was coming to visit and he offered to put on a mumu (where they cook food over hot stones).
If you are looking at this in an email you may need to go to the blog to view the slide show.

My brother David spent Christmas with us.  The weather was great while he was here in spite of rainy season and we were able to do a lot of fun things.   We spent time with friends in their village and enjoyed a mumu with them (a meal cooked over hot rocks).  We went on a long motorcycle ride as well as a bike ride out to a beautiful lookout point.

David, Daniel and I drove about 5 hours to Madang and had great week there.  We stayed at POC (where we did training for 3 month) and went snorkeling 2 times.  Three of our nights in Madang were spent with our village family in the village where we stayed during training.

I will blog more details later.
